Sunday Funday
Sundays are really chill in Granada. A lot of places (besides food places) are closed all day, so most people just spend the day relaxing. There's a basilica just about two blocks from my apartment tat has services every hour from 8 am to 1 pm, and then another at 6 pm, so I didn't have to worry about waking up at a certain time to go to Mass. The church was just spectacular. It was decorated with so many colors it was incredible. There weren't stained glass windows, but there were paintings all along the side walls, and chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. It wasn't at all like the plain stone churches in London. Afterwards I read my Spanish Harry Potter book for a while on a park bench on this little strip on the main street by my house. Then I went home for lunch. This afternoon I met up with some friends and we walked up a big hill to Plaza Mirador de San Nicolas. It's a plaza with a really great view of the Alhambra, the city, and the mountains, and it's right by a really old church, originally built in 1525. This one is so different from the other, marked by the scarily empty stone walls. After enjoying the view, we walked back down, browsed down a little narrow street with a bunch of shops, and then enjoyed some gelato. It was a nice afternoon.
